PIDE AYUDA

PIDE AYUDA began in late 2017 when The Sir turned to The Lady and asked, “Do you want to record some noise?” Despite not being too familiar with the experimental/noise scene, The Lady said, “Yes!” The duo, who had previously collaborated in NY punk bands, used two synths given to The Sir by his father. They made some recordings, which were noticed by Will Malitek at Greenpoint, Brooklyn’s Film Noir Cinema. Will invited them to play a six-month residency in 2018: one month they would play to a film, the next month to a film collage they had assembled. A witchcraft collage was so offensive people left. This made them happy.

Jean Rollin and Juan Lopez Moctezuma films ran onscreen between collages. In the meantime, they contributed to several compilations on Placenta Recordings, proceeds of which were donated to important causes like domestic abuse and animal rescue. Soon, The Sir and the Lady began collecting analog synths, which became their primary source of sound. In 2019, Pide Ayuda were invited to play at a Chelsea, New York City punk rock dive called Kasteli Café. Once again, they drove people away with their notorious Witchcraft collage, this time featuring Seth from NYHC heroes Blackout Shoppers on vocals. Eventually, Wondercap Records asked Pide Ayuda to do a 7”.
